The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Olayiwola Fatai, has announced major operational successes recorded since he assumed office, including the arrest of dozens of suspects and the recovery of firearms, vehicles, and other incriminating items across the state.
Speaking during a press briefing, CP Fatai said the achievements were the result of deliberate intelligence-led policing strategies and strong collaboration between the police and members of the public.
According to him, the Command arrested 47 suspects linked to crimes such as armed robbery, cultism, conspiracy, stealing, threats to life, and unlawful possession of firearms.
He disclosed that police operatives also recovered 14 firearms, including 10 locally made guns and four pump-action rifles, along with 96 rounds of 5.2mm live ammunition, 29 live cartridges, and one expended cartridge.

Other items recovered during the operations include 14 vehicles, 29 mobile phones, two laptops, one flash drive, and several other exhibits connected to criminal activities.
CP Fatai also highlighted the Command’s successful security operations during the recent Easter celebrations, noting that proactive deployment of personnel to worship centres, highways, recreational centres, and other strategic locations helped ensure a peaceful celebration across the state.
“The Command recorded no major security breach during the Easter period,” he said, attributing the success to careful planning, operational vigilance, and collaboration with other security agencies and law-abiding residents.
Among the cases highlighted was the arrest of Jamiu Yahaya, also known as “Elesin,” a suspected armed robber who was apprehended in the Amukoko area with a locally made pistol, live cartridges, and suspected charms.
Police operatives also arrested 21 suspected cultists at a hotel in Ajao Estate while they were reportedly celebrating the birthday of a notorious cult member identified as “Actor,” who is currently on the run.
In another major breakthrough, detectives arrested Robert Smith, a 62-year-old suspected serial fraudster accused of defrauding a microfinance bank of ₦130 million. Investigations revealed that the suspect used the funds to acquire several luxury vehicles, six of which have already been recovered.
Other operations carried out by the Command led to the arrest of suspected car theft syndicate members, armed robbers, vandals, and cultists operating in different parts of Lagos, including Lekki, Ikotun, Egbeda, Iba, and Ifako-Ijaiye.
CP Fatai assured residents that the Lagos State Police Command remains committed to intensifying intelligence-driven operations, strengthening community engagement, and sustaining visibility policing to keep the state safe.
He urged residents to continue supporting the police by providing credible and timely information, adding that all suspects arrested in connection with the various cases will be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
