The Lagos State Police Command has stepped up its game in the fight against crime, arresting 27 suspects linked to serious offenses like murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, defilement, cultism, and vandalism within just two weeks.
The Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, asserted that rather than wait for trouble to erupt, the police swung into action using timely intelligence and swift response teams to prevent further harm. In several cases, they were able to rescue victims, recover stolen property, and even stop a robbery in progress.
Among the major incidents, Huundeyin recounted the rescue of a 14-year-old boy who was kidnapped in Olodi-Apapa. His captors demanded a ransom of N20 million, but police officers foiled the plan, arrested one suspect at the point of ransom collection, and rescued the boy unhurt from a hotel in Ajegunle. The hotel manager was also arrested for allegedly providing shelter for the kidnappers.
Speaking during a press conference in Lagos In another incident, the police saved two armed robbery suspects from a mob in Ajegunle after they allegedly shot a motorcyclist during an attempted theft. Sadly, the victim died on the spot, but the police recovered a locally made pistol and a stolen tricycle.

Cult-related crimes were also addressed. Eight suspected cultists, including a woman, were arrested in Yaba. A gun, live ammunition, battle axes, and cutlasses were recovered, all believed to be connected to violent crimes in and around Yabatech.
Several heartbreaking defilement cases also came to light, including one where a man allegedly abused his physically challenged teenage daughter repeatedly in Amukoko, and another in which a father was accused of defiling his two daughters in Surulere. The suspects were arrested, and the girls were taken for medical care.

Cable vandals, car thieves, and violent individuals were also rounded up in different parts of Lagos. In Agege, a stolen KIA Cerato was recovered, while in Ijegun, two men were caught red-handed with streetlight cables. Even a lounge dispute in Sangotedo turned deadly when a man allegedly punched another to death during an argument.
According to the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, all arrested suspects are being investigated and will be charged to court. He reassured residents that the police will continue to deploy both human and technical resources to keep Lagos safe.
