Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested two suspected armed robbers who were caught terrorizing residents around the Shoprite Ikeja and Maryland axis.
The suspects, identified as Segun Adeyemi (32) and Abayomi Ajayi (24), were apprehended by operatives of the Ikeja Division during a swift response to a distress call on September 29, 2025, at about 7:15 pm.
According to police sources, the duo belonged to a three-man gang that specialized in dispossessing unsuspecting citizens of their valuables using a motorcycle. While two suspects were arrested, the third member of the gang escaped during the operation.

The Police recovered the operational motorcycle used by the suspects as an exhibit. Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang had come from Mushin to carry out their criminal activities in Ikeja before they were intercepted by the operatives.
Lagos State Police Commissioner, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the swift response of the officers and applauded the cooperation of members of the public which made the arrests possible.
“The Command remains unwavering in its commitment to rid Lagos State of criminal elements. We urge citizens to continue to provide timely and credible information to the Police for effective crime prevention,” he said.
The arrested suspects are currently in custody while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing gang member. Upon the conclusion of investigations, the suspects will be charged to court.
