Nigeria has once again taken center stage on the global map for excellence in digital governance, clinching two major international awards at the 2025 Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit held in Spain.
The country emerged as a standout performer, earning both the Regional Award for Africa and the Middle East and the Thematic Award for Digital Governance, the latter making Nigeria the overall global winner in its category — out of 160 commitments submitted by 42 participating countries.
The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), in collaboration with civil society organization Dataphyte, led Nigeria’s efforts that secured these recognitions. The awards underscore the country’s sustained commitment to transparency, accountability, and citizen engagement through technology-driven governance.
