The Inspector General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a strong call to action for all police officers across Nigeria to intensify their fight against crime. Speaking on Symfoni TV during a recent briefing on security operations, he urged the force to lead with courage, integrity, and professionalism as the nation faces complex and growing security challenges.
IGP Egbetokun highlighted the increasing threats from terrorism, kidnapping, armed robbery, cultism, cybercrime, and other criminal activities spreading across different parts of the country. Despite these challenges, he commended the police for recent achievements, including arresting over 1,700 suspects involved in serious crimes and rescuing nearly 500 kidnapping victims between April and May 2025.
The police chief stressed that these victories, while important, are just the beginning. He called on senior officers to lead by example, use intelligence and technology in operations, and work closely with other security agencies and communities to stay ahead of evolving threats.
“Let our actions speak louder than our uniforms,” Egbetokun said, emphasizing the need for visible presence on the streets, timely response to incidents, and stronger teamwork among law enforcement bodies.
