Former Minister of Transportation and two-term Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, has issued a passionate call to Rivers people to unite under a new political movement, promising to end what he describes as the hunger the current government has brought upon the people.
Speaking during a recent interaction, Amaechi said every Rivers man who means well for the state and the country should go and register with the new party. He added that it was time to remove the current government and stop the suffering Nigerians are going through.
When asked whether his support base in Rivers remains strong despite being away from the state for nearly ten years, Amaechi responded confidently, saying, “Let’s go outside and see. It’s important you see before you ask the question.”
The former minister also addressed his role in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where he is seen as one of the party’s leading presidential hopefuls. He dismissed concerns about internal party rivalry, stating that all aspirants have agreed to support whoever emerges from a transparent primary process.
“Anybody who emerges from a free, fair, and transparent primary—we will all support them. That’s the agreement,” he said.
