Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has criticized the President Tinubu-led Federal Government for failing to expedite action in giving a befitting burial to Late Pa Michael Taiwo Akinkunmi, the man who designed the Nigerian flag.
Pa Akinkunmi died on August 21, 2023, and his remains are yet to be buried due to the promise made by the Federal Government to give him a befitting burial.
The delegation of the government was led by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Muhammad Idris to the deceased’s family in Ibadan where Pa Akinkunmi lived until he breathed his last last year.
Displeased over the delay by FG in granting a state burial to the late patriot, Atiku took to his social media and wrote:
“I am immensely disheartened that the Federal Government under Tinubu’s administration has failed to bestow upon the late Michael Akinkunmi, the creator of our national flag, the state burial he was so rightfully promised. No other patriot embodies the spirit of honour and sacrifice as profoundly as the revered ‘Mr. Flag Man.’ – AA”
