Lagos Police Command Mourns Popular Festac DPO, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye

The Lagos State Police Command has been thrown into mourning following the death of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Festac Division, CSP Matilda Ngbaronye, who passed away on Friday, October 24, 2025, after undergoing surgery at the Mayriamville Medical Centre, Bode Thomas, Surulere, Lagos.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, the Command described her death as a rude shock and a great loss to the Force, the community, and all who knew her.

“The Command mourns the loss of a truly upright and dedicated officer who served with unwavering professionalism and integrity. Until her passing, she was known for her diligence, discipline, and commitment to duty,” the statement read.

The late Ngbaronye was widely respected for her friendly and humane approach to policing, which helped strengthen the relationship between the police and the public within her area of command.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohondare Jimoh, has extended his condolences to her family, including her aged mother, husband, and elder brother, who is a priest. He also pledged the Command’s support to the bereaved family during this difficult time.

“At no time was she found wanting in the discharge of her responsibilities. Her demise leaves a huge void in the Command,” CP Jimoh stated.

CSP Matilda Ngbaronye was one of the respected female senior officers in the Lagos Police Command, admired for her leadership, compassion, and commitment to service.

May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace.
