The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the Natasha vs. Akpabio Suit to March 25, 2025, ordering all parties to file and serve their legal processes. The case involves Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s challenge against a Senate probe into her alleged misconduct.
The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the hearing of the Natasha vs. Akpabio Suit to March 25, 2025. The case, filed by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, seeks to stop an ongoing probe by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions. The court has ordered all parties involved to file and serve their legal documents before the next hearing.
The suit, presided over by Justice Obiora Egwuatu, came up for mention on Monday. However, none of the parties had been served with the necessary court documents. As a result, the judge instructed that all legal processes must be filed and shared before the case continues later this month.
Previously, the court had issued an interim order restraining the Senate from proceeding with its scheduled public hearing on the allegations against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. Justice Egwuatu directed the National Assembly, the Senate, and the Senate Committee on Ethics to suspend the hearing, which was initially set for March 5. He further instructed them to provide reasons within 72 hours as to why an interlocutory injunction should not be granted to permanently halt the probe.
Background of the Natasha vs. Akpabio Suit
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central, was at the center of controversy following allegations of misconduct in the Senate. The matter escalated when she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of victimizing her by reallocating her seat without prior notice. In response, the Senate Committee on Ethics summoned her for questioning over the incident.
Despite the court’s intervention, the Senate proceeded with its disciplinary actions. On March 6, 2025, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended from the Senate for six months, further intensifying the dispute. The defendants in the suit include the Clerk to the National Assembly, the Clerk of the Senate, and the Senate Committee on Ethics.

With the court’s latest ruling, the legal battle between Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan and the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio will continue in a few weeks.
