The Nigerian Communications Satellite (NIGCOMSAT) Ltd has adopted the Federal Government’s Performance Management System (PMS) as part of efforts to enhance efficiency, accountability, and service delivery within the organisation.
The initiative, which involves intensive staff training, aligns with the vision of the Presidency and the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, and is aimed at fostering a strong work ethic and service-oriented culture across the Nigerian public sector.
Speaking at the opening of the training, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of NIGCOMSAT, Mrs. Jane Nkechi Egerton-Idehen, represented by the Executive Director, Technical Services, Engr. Abiodun Attah, said the adoption of PMS was long overdue. She described the system as critical to aligning the organisation’s operations with national performance objectives.
According to her, the Performance Management System will enable NIGCOMSAT to improve institutional effectiveness while ensuring that staff contributions are clearly linked to organisational and national goals.
In her opening remarks, the General Manager, Human Resources Management, Mrs. Chinwe Udogu, expressed the organisation’s enthusiasm for the programme and urged participants to fully commit to the three-day training. She noted that the exercise is key to repositioning NIGCOMSAT to achieve its strategic aspirations.

The training consultant, Mrs. Njoku Chioma, explained that the programme is designed to drive culture change, automate work processes, and strengthen institutional performance across the organisation.
She added that the PMS framework would support measurable outcomes, improved productivity, and enhanced accountability within the public service.
The three-day training, jointly organised by the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation and NIGCOMSAT Management, covers several key themes, including an overview of the FCSSI25 as an institutional performance-driven Federal Civil and Public Service, service culture and workplace attitude in the Nigerian public sector, implementation of the Performance Management System in NIGCOMSAT, and the application of artificial intelligence tools to enhance performance in the public sector.
The programme cuts across all directorates and staff cadres, reinforcing NIGCOMSAT’s commitment to aligning its operations with the Presidency’s vision and the directives of the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation.
