Africa Must Claim Its Seat in Global Space Policy
Mrs. Egerton-Idehen said Nigeria’s investment in the space sector was driven by visionary leadership that recognized its potential to grow the economy, build a robust ecosystem, and attract global investors. She noted that the collaboration could help address critical issues such as national security, sustainability, and sovereignty.

“Africa must claim its seat at the table—not because it was handed to us, but because we have earned it through decades of dedication and leadership in this sector,” she stated, while highlighting the efforts of Nigeria’s space institutions, including NASRDA, NIGCOMSAT, and the Defence Space Agency.

On his part, Brigadier Kipkosgey said the visit was to better understand NIGCOMSAT’s services and identify areas of collaboration, similar to KSA’s engagements with NASRDA and DSA. He emphasized the need for African space agencies to move beyond once-a-year meetings and pursue deeper, more frequent engagements that could drive the continent’s ambitions in space development.
