NIPOST Transitions to Full Cashless Operations by July 1

In a major move to modernize its services, NIPOST has announced that from July 1, 2025, all payments at post offices across Nigeria must be made electronically. Whether you’re sending a parcel or buying stamps, cash will no longer be accepted at the counter.

This new rule is part of a bigger plan to transform NIPOST into a smart, digital-first agency that meets today’s demands. Tagged “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores,” the reforms are focused on making the postal system faster, safer, and more transparent.

“We’re not just changing how we work — we’re rethinking what NIPOST can be,” the agency said. “No more long lines or missing receipts. We want Nigerians to enjoy reliable, world-class service.”

The agency leaders are crediting this new direction to the support of the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, as well as the fresh leadership of its new Board Chairman, Barr. Isaac Kekemeke. The Postmaster General, Tola Odeyemi, is also being praised for pushing the reforms and working to improve staff welfare.

To ensure top performance, NIPOST says it will also reward outstanding staff while putting stricter rules in place to keep operations clean and accountable.

This cashless policy marks a bold step in Nigeria’s journey toward digital transformation — and NIPOST wants to be at the forefront. The goal is simple: to deliver better service, cut down on corruption, and make postal transactions easier for everyone.
