The National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) has announced the maiden edition of its Startup Consultative Forum. This move puts power in the hands of Nigeria’s tech innovators.
The forum, scheduled to hold on Monday, April 28, 2025, is not just another meeting—it’s a platform for startup founders, tech hubs, investors, and innovation leaders to directly shape the future of Nigeria’s digital economy.
This initiative is a bold step under the Nigeria Startup Act (NSA), which aims to turn startups into active players in policy-making rather than just recipients of government programs. At the heart of this forum is the nomination and selection of representatives who will sit on the National Council for Digital Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the highest body responsible for advising the government on matters affecting startups.
Unlike in the past, where decisions were made with little input from those on the ground, this time, NITDA is calling on all relevant stakeholders—Labelled Startups, Verified Innovation Support Organizations, Angel Investors, and Venture Capitalists—to show up, speak up, and vote.
According to NITDA, the forum will create an open space for honest conversations and real impact, helping to attract more investment into Nigeria’s tech space and build policies that support growth from the grassroots.
