Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Maiami has asked Nigerians to disregard reports about the sale of recovered properties in the country.
Abubakar Malami, SAN, also clarified that he had not approved the sale of recovered properties in the country.
The Minister said this in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations officer Umar Gwandu on Tuesday.
“The attention of the office of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, SAN has been drawn to a media report which allegedly claims that a syndicate from the Ministry sells Federal Government’s recovered properties without the knowledge of the Honourable Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice.
“That auctioning of recovered looted properties by the federal government has not officially commenced.
” We have set up a 5-member Committee panel Chaired by the Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation to investigate and verify the authenticity of the report and recommend ways of handling the matter in accordance with the provisions of the extant laws,” the statement reads
