The Northern States Governors’ Forum has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Muhammad Usman Zuru, who died in the early hours of Tuesday in Egypt.
In a condolence message, the Chairman of the forum and Governor of Gombe State, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, described the late Speaker’s passing as a painful and significant loss to the region and Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
According to a statement issued by the Director-General of Press Affairs, Ismaila Uba Misilli, Yahaya said the death of the Speaker was a monumental loss not only to Kebbi State but also to the entire northern region and the country’s legislative community.
He described Zuru as a distinguished leader who made notable contributions to governance and democratic development.

The governor said the late Speaker served as an accomplished lawmaker and played a stabilising role in governance through his commitment, wisdom, and humility.
Yahaya noted that Zuru’s legacy would endure through his dedication to democratic ideals and his efforts toward the development of Kebbi State.
He added that the forum extends heartfelt condolences to the Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, members of the state House of Assembly, the Zuru Emirate Council, and the family of the deceased.
The governor also prayed for the repose of the late Speaker’s soul, asking Allah to forgive his shortcomings and grant him Aljannatul Firdaus.
