Former President Olusegun Obasanjo and some governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have met with the Labour Party (LP) Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, at an undisclosed location in London.
Present at the meeting were Gov. Nyesom Wike, Okezie Ikpeazu, Samuel Ortom, and Seyi Makinde of Rivers, Abia, Benue and Oyo states respectively.
The PDP governors are among those considered to be working against the chances of their party’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
Also at the meeting was a former Governor of Cross River state, Donald Duke.
However, they maintained sealed lips as they emerged from the meeting though many believe that it was not unconnected with the 2023 general elections and Obi’s chances.
Govs. Wike, Ikpeazu and Ortom are in their terminal months in office while Makinde is gunning for another term which many believe is still shaky.
Alongside Duke, all the governors are also opposed to the continuation of Iyorchia Ayu as PDP chairman, a condition they had tabled for peace in the party.
