Tanko has urged Nigerians to focus on productivity as a solution to the country’s economic hardship and insecurity, saying that if Peter Obi were president, the nation’s currency and living standards would improve significantly.
He explained that local production is key to economic stability. “The moment we produce, the naira gets stronger. If all 774 local governments were producing at even a minimum level, hunger would drastically reduce, and crime would decline,” he said. Using his hometown in Kano State as an example, Tanko highlighted rice production as a potential source of wealth and foreign exchange for Nigeria.
On the issue of insecurity, Tanko criticized the government for failing to tackle banditry effectively. “Weapons are not made in Nigeria. Someone is supplying and financing them. Until that supply is cut, killings will continue,” he warned. He stressed that Nigerian soldiers could handle insurgency if properly equipped and free from sabotage.
Tanko concluded with a call for collective action. “Nigerians, especially the youth and professionals, must wake up. We have the tools to survive and thrive, but it requires courage, accountability, and a focus on productivity from those in power,” he added.
