Abuja, Nigeria –Nigerians are feeling the pinch once again as prices of food and essential items continue to climb, with the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) reporting another rise in the country’s inflation rate.
According to the NBS Consumer Price Index report released today, April 15, the inflation rate in March 2025 reached 24.23%, up from 23.18% recorded in February. This means the general cost of goods and services has gone up, making everyday life more expensive for the average Nigerian.
The report revealed that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) — which measures the average change in prices over time — increased to 117.34 in March, showing a 4.4-point jump from the previous month.

“The increase in headline inflation reflects how prices of food, transport, rent, and other essential items have risen again compared to last month,” the NBS said.
