A group under the auspices of Amalgamated Atiku Support Groups (AASG) has harped on the need for Nigerians to focus on stabilising the country.
In a statement, the Director-General of AASG, Oladimeji Fabiyi, said Nigeria is on the verge of losing her “nationhood”, hence the need to select the right individual for the presidential election.
Fabiyi stated that former Vice president, Atiku Abubakar, is the most qualified candidate to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
Addressing supporters of the former president, the DG of AASG advised followers to intensify their campaigns for Atiku candidacy ahead of the presidential primaries of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
“We must have a stable country before we talk about a power shift.
“We must achieve a sizeable growth, we must have a guaranteed security system before talking about development, and we must have peace before talking about any other thing.
“The agreement across the nation is that Atiku Abubakar fits the bills.
“The process of nation-building is unending; it has been from time immemorial, we therefore as a nation can not sacrifice merit, competence, capacity, performance and experience for regionalism or zoning.
“What we have before us is the Presidential primaries of our party that may come up in the next couple of weeks or months.
“As you are aware, it’s the first hurdle to be crossed; therefore, my dear colleagues, nothing must take our eyes and attention away from the ball.
