A member of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and loyalist of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Fabiyi Oladimeji, has hit back at Senator Adams Oshiomhole over comments he made on Channels Television late Sunday night.
Oshiomhole, a former Governor of Edo State and ex-National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had used the TV interview to criticize Atiku’s role in leading the opposition against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
But Fabiyi, in a swift reaction via a statement issued Sunday night, said Oshiomhole’s remarks only revealed his “fear and obsession” with the growing political influence of Atiku ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Oshiomhole is part and parcel of the failed APC government,” Fabiyi stated. “He is a member of the current Senate, which is the worst in Nigeria’s history, and a disgraced former APC chairman. So, I am not surprised that such a man would be struck with Atiku fever.”

Fabiyi described Oshiomhole’s comments during the Channels TV interview anchored by Seun Okinbaloye as “a display of arrogance and ignorance,” adding that the Edo-born senator had lost touch with the realities of Nigerians’ sufferings under the APC government.

He continued: “Oshiomhole stressed that Atiku and Peter Obi had been defeated individually and collectively, alluding that their joint ticket would fall again. That statement alone shows his fear of Atiku’s rising political momentum ahead of 2027.”
According to Fabiyi, the APC and President Tinubu have recently intensified their campaign of calumny against Atiku because they are “frustrated and jittery over the opposition’s growing popularity among Nigerians.”
He said: “Oshiomhole, one of the loudest apologists of the APC, is merely struggling to get back in Tinubu’s good books. He remains one of Nigeria’s biggest political hypocrites whose selfish ambition has contributed to the country’s current comatose state.”

Fabiyi also accused Oshiomhole of abandoning his supposed activism, saying the senator should channel his energy toward pushing for electoral reforms rather than attacking opposition leaders.
“Oshiomhole should stop chasing shadows and be logical enough to realize that the time is up for the failed APC government,” he concluded.
