The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has strongly disowned a series of AI-generated videos falsely linking him to drug promotions and scholarship offers. These misleading videos, which have been making rounds on social media, have tricked many people into believing the revered cleric is endorsing these claims.
On Wednesday, March 26, Pastor Adeboye took to his official Facebook page to clear the air, stating that he has no involvement in any such promotions and urging his followers to stay alert against these fraudulent schemes.
“I have been made aware of disturbing AI-generated videos circulating online, falsely advertising certain drugs and scholarships that are intended to deceive and mislead people,” Adeboye wrote.
The viral videos, which appear to have been created using artificial intelligence, attempt to manipulate his image and voice to lend credibility to fake advertisements. Many unsuspecting individuals have already fallen for the scam, believing that the revered man of God was genuinely endorsing these initiatives. However, Pastor Adeboye has made it categorically clear that he has nothing to do with them.
“These videos are NOT from me, and I want to make it clear that I have no involvement in such promotions. I urge all of you, my dear brothers and sisters in Christ, to be vigilant and not fall for these fraudulent schemes,” he warned.
Pastor Adeboye expressed deep concern over the deceptive tactics used by the scammers, emphasizing that such fraudulent content is meant to take advantage of people’s trust in him and his ministry. He urged everyone to refrain from engaging with or sharing these misleading videos, which are only designed to spread misinformation and mislead the public.
“They are designed to exploit your trust for selfish gain. Please do not share or engage with these posts. I encourage you to report these fake accounts and videos immediately on all social media platforms. Together, we can ensure that such deception does not spread further,” he added.
The cleric also mentioned that the individuals and groups behind these malicious acts, including ‘Africa Health Centre’ and ‘Church-Funded Scholarships,’ are already being investigated by the relevant authorities. He assured his followers that steps are being taken to hold those responsible accountable.
“These malicious acts by ‘Africa Health Centre’ and ‘Church-Funded Scholarships’ are being dealt with already by the relevant authorities, as we will not allow God’s name to be used in vain for such wickedness,” Pastor Adeboye stated.
With the rise of artificial intelligence technology, cases of deepfake videos and fake endorsements have increased. Scammers are using AI tools to manipulate public figures’ images and voices, making it seem as though they are promoting products, services, or programs they have no affiliation with. Pastor Adeboye’s case is just one of many instances where fraudsters attempt to deceive people by misusing a trusted figure’s identity.
Pastor Adeboye called on his followers to remain steadfast in their faith, avoid distractions, and stay focused on the true work of the kingdom. He reminded them to be cautious in the digital space and always verify the authenticity of any information before believing or sharing it.
“Let us continue to stay in the truth, walk in love, and remain focused on the genuine work of the Kingdom,” he urged.
The warning from Pastor Adeboye serves as a wake-up call to the public to be extra cautious about misleading online content. The rise of AI-generated scams highlights the need for increased awareness and digital literacy to avoid falling victim to fraudulent schemes.
Social media users are encouraged to report any suspicious content or fake endorsements and to always confirm the authenticity of any message purportedly from a public figure before engaging with it. As authorities continue their investigations into the fraudulent videos, Adeboye’s firm stance against digital deception reinforces the need for vigilance in an era of increasing online scams.
Pastor Adeboye’s followers have since taken to social media to express their support, with many condemning the use of technology for deceitful purposes. As the investigation unfolds, many are hopeful that those behind the fraudulent videos will be brought to justice and that such deceptive practices will be curbed in the future.
With artificial intelligence becoming more advanced, the misuse of technology for fraudulent activities is a growing concern. The call for vigilance and awareness is more crucial than ever, and Pastor Adeboye’s warning serves as a reminder for all to stay alert and cautious in the digital age.
