PDP Sets Up South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to Oversee Party Affairs

The PDP has appointed a South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to manage party affairs after the current executives’ tenure ends. Find out who is on the committee and what their role entails.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has approved the formation of a South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to oversee party activities in the region. This move ensures that there is no leadership vacuum after the current zonal executives’ tenure expires on March 9, 2025. The newly appointed caretaker committee will begin operations on Monday, March 10, 2025, and will manage the party’s affairs for three months or until a new executive is elected.

According to the PDP, the decision to set up the South South Zonal Caretaker Committee is in line with the party’s constitution, which allows for such an arrangement when necessary. The committee will be responsible for maintaining order, coordinating party activities, and ensuring a smooth transition to a new leadership team when elections are held.

PDP South South Zonal Caretaker Committee to Ensure Smooth Transition

The newly appointed South South Zonal Caretaker Committee consists of seven members with diverse experience in party administration. Bro. Emma Ogidi has been named as the Chairman, while Chief Damiete Herbert-Miller will serve as the Secretary. Other members of the committee include Hon. Nicholas Ayuwa, Barr. Godwin Akpan Udonta, Mrs. Bekewei Ashanti, Idehen Ebomoyi, and Dame Vivian Ahanmisi.

The committee’s primary responsibility is to oversee the smooth running of the party’s affairs in the South South region during the transition period. The NWC has urged all PDP leaders, stakeholders, and members in the South South to cooperate with the caretaker committee in the interest of the party.
