Rivers State Police Command has paraded 30 suspects for various offences ranging from “kidnapping, child theft, armed robbery, sea pirate and smuggling of arms” in the state.
The commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka who briefed journalists at the command’s headquarters on Wednesday said his men acted on intelligence reports and arrested the suspects.
CP Eboka said items like arms and ammunition, vehicles and a trailer loaded with fertilizer and one million naira cash were recovered from the suspects with the help of the operatives of Elimgbu Police station.
The Commissioner of Police while warning criminal elements terrorising parts of the state to relocate or be ready to face the full wrath of the law, encouraged residents to be confident in the police and assist with useful information.
He said “I want to reassure residents of Rivers state that the police under my watch are very much ready to ensure that they enjoy their safety.
“I’m now calling on those involved in kidnapping, robbery and other social vices to relocate from Rivers state”.
Seven kidnap victims and a child who was sold out were rescued by the police in the operations.
