The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has decried the rate at which racism is spreading hate among Africans.
Oba Ogunwusi joined other critical stakeholders from tertiary institutions and the Centre for Black and African Arts and Civilization to state that Africans must make deliberate efforts to redirect their focus and attention to building synergy.
The leaders of thought made the call at a symposium on the resurgence of Racism and the challenges of development in the 21st century. They charged leaders to create a true identity for the Black race.
The theme of the event was “Black and African: Resurgent Racism and challenges of Development in the 21st century: Afro-phobia and the Dynamics of Race Relations.”
The stakeholders identified a lack of leverage on African studies and poor documentation for the young generation as critical factors that have created a lot of gaps.
The Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II and the Director-General of CBAAL Oluwabunmi Amao said, “Racism and Racial injustice can only be won with deliberate efforts at redirecting focus towards building synergy.”
