The streets of Rivers State came alive on Thursday as hundreds of children and their parents gathered for the 2025 Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Back-to-School Outreach Program organized by Green Care Medical Consultants and Fertility Centre.

The event, which has grown into one of the most anticipated community initiatives in the state, provided a blend of healthcare support and educational supplies to give children a fresh, well-equipped start to the new academic year.

From school bags, flasks, lunch boxes, and water cans to free drugs and other medical items, the outreach brought both relief and excitement to families struggling with the rising cost of education and healthcare.

The atmosphere was filled with the sounds of laughter and chatter as children proudly clutched their new school items. Parents watched with gratitude as their children received supplies many feared they could not afford this year.

For many, it was not just about the bags and boxes—it was a rare moment of joy, dignity, and community.

“A Healthy Youth Population Is Our Future” — Prof. Green

Speaking at the outreach, the Chief Medical Director of Green Care Medical Consultants, Professor Kikinkawo Green, said the initiative was a reaffirmation of the organization’s commitment to the wellbeing of the people.

“It was truly heartwarming to see the joy in the faces of the children and teens as we handed them items to prepare them for school,” Professor Green said.

“A healthy and well-equipped youth population is the foundation of a vibrant society, and at Green Care, we are proud to contribute to that future. Our goal goes beyond medicine; it is about building a community that is healthier, stronger, and better prepared for tomorrow.”

Professor Green stressed that the hospital would continue to do more for the community that has stood by them over the years, promising that the Back-to-School CSR program would not only continue but expand in scope.

Several parents described the initiative as a lifeline, especially at a time when families are grappling with economic hardship.

A mother of three who attended the event said: “I didn’t know how I would get everything my children needed for school this term. These supplies are a blessing, and I thank Green Care for remembering us.”

Another parent noted that the inclusion of free drugs alongside school materials was particularly impactful, ensuring children could start the school year both healthy and ready to learn.

Beyond fertility and medical care, Green Care Medical Consultants has built a reputation for community-focused initiatives that strengthen the social fabric of Rivers State.

This year’s Back-to-School outreach, according to observers, reflects a deeper understanding that the wellbeing of society is tied to both health and education. By addressing both needs at once, the program also aligns with global sustainable development goals—particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and SDG 4 (Quality Education).

As the children head into the 2025/2026 academic year, many will carry on their backs not just new bags and supplies, but also the confidence that their dreams matter.

Community leaders who attended praised Green Care’s efforts and called on more organizations to replicate such initiatives, stressing that Nigeria’s development depends on collective responsibility.

For Professor Kikinkawo Green and his team, however, the mission is clear: to keep touching lives, one child and one family at a time.

“Our promise,” he said, “is to keep giving back and to continue looking out for the good of our community. This is only the beginning.”
