Hundreds of women took to the streets of Port Harcourt on Monday morning to show their support for the declaration of a state of emergency in Rivers Stat
The women, all dressed in white, gathered at the popular Garrison Bus Stop at about 8: 00am to begin the peaceful rally. They marched along Aba Road, singing solidarity songs and moving toward the Rivers State Government House.
The rally was in support of the newly appointed Sole Administrator of the state, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), following recent political developments.

Many of them held placards and banners while singing in unison to express their backing for the emergency measures.
This comes just days after another protest in the state capital, where a separate group of women, under the name ‘Rivers Women for Sim’, opposed the declaration and called for the return of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.
