Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, has commiserated with the government and people of Sokoto State over the killing of dozens of people by armed men terrorising the state.
Ortom also extended his heartfelt condolence to Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, over the killings in the state.
Over 40 people in Goronyo and Illela Local Government Areas of Sokoto State were killed on Sunday and Monday by bandits terrorising the country.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary Nathaniel Ikyur, the Benue state governor said he is pained by the continuous killings in the country.
He said, “the boldness exhibited by the terrorists from state to state across the country is a clear indication that the nation is in grave danger and stands the risk of losing its territorial integrity to terrorists whose sole agenda is to conquer Nigeria.”
The Governor further lamented “the atrocities of the terrorists who are going about invading communities unhindered with unprovoked attacks” and says it is threatening the unity of Nigeria.
Governor Orom appealed to security agencies not to be deterred by the challenges they face in fighting to protect the nation’s sovereignty. He urged them to go all out to uproot the terrorists from the shores of Nigeria.
