Nigerian activist, Deji Adeyanju has come out strongly against supporters of Labour Party’s Peter Obi, accusing them of launching an online assault/ cyber bully against activist and politician Omoyele Sowore. Adeyanju claims that the attacks, which led to the disabling of Sowore’s Facebook page, were not just coordinated by Obi’s supporters — but also silently approved by the former Anambra governor himself.
Adeyanju described the move as “disgraceful” and “undemocratic,” warning that silencing critics will not help the Obidient movement build a better Nigeria.
“This is not democracy. If you truly want a better Nigeria, you don’t silence opposing voices,” Adeyanju stated. He linked the attack directly to Peter Obi, saying, “These attacks… are supported and sanctioned by Peter Obi himself.”
Adeyanju said Obi’s followers have turned to online bullying and censorship. He noted that Sowore has consistently spoken the truth about Obi’s political history, especially during his time as Anambra governor.
“Let’s be honest,” Adeyanju continued, “Obi’s record as governor was filled with failures — doctors on strike, poor education, no local government elections, and unanswered killings of MASSOB members.”
He also questioned Obi’s political journey, from APGA to PDP and now Labour Party, saying it reveals a lack of ideological consistency. “The PDP he served in helped ruin Nigeria,” he added.
Adeyanju praised Sowore for standing firm in his values, saying the attacks were only meant to suppress uncomfortable truths. “Nobody hates Peter Obi. What we oppose are the lies and image-washing by his followers. We won’t let politics become a cult,” he said.
“Nigeria deserves truth and accountability — not intimidation,” Adeyanju emphasised.
