The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Edo State Chapter has officially responded to the recent Supreme Court ruling that did not favor its governorship candidate in the September 21, 2024, elections.
Speaking to supporters and party faithfuls following the court ruling on Thursday, a top PDP leader passionately addressed the judgment, urging calm and unity despite the pain of defeat.
“It’s painful. It’s sad. But this is just a hurdle on our path. The journey of nation-building is a long one,” he said.
Though disappointed, the party emphasized that it accepts the court’s decision with dignity. The leader expressed deep appreciation to the people of Edo who came out in large numbers to vote and support the PDP cause.
“Today we are not confused. Our hearts are full of gratitude,” he noted, pointing out that the will of the people, though not upheld in court, remains a guiding force for their future.

The party’s message was not just about reflection—it was about moving forward. The leader made it clear that PDP is already looking ahead to the 2027 elections.
“We want to meet the ground running. 2027 is around the corner. We are going to campaign for the return of Ai back to the State House,” he declared.
In a show of political maturity, the PDP called for peace, unity, and collaboration across party lines. The leader even extended an olive branch to the State Governor, encouraging cooperation for the betterment of Edo State.
“Let’s remain united. Let’s stay peaceful. The governor wants to bring everybody together, regardless of political party.”
