‘This Is True Patriotism’ – FCT Police Celebrate Anonymous Citizen Who Donated Patrol Vans, Powered Stations

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has praised an unnamed Nigerian citizen for what it described as a shining example of true patriotism.

According to the Commissioner of Police, the individual donated 15 brand new patrol vehicles and funded solar power installation for 10 police stations across Abuja.Describing the support as “invaluable,” the Commissioner said the gesture has boosted the command’s operational capacity and improved response time to distress calls. “This is true patriotism,” he declared during a press briefing at the SC Headquarters in Abuja.

The donor didn’t stop at vehicles and solar systems. He also took it upon himself to light up a notorious bypass in the city—a location previously used by criminals to ambush unsuspecting road users.

The improved visibility in the area has since reduced the activities of kidnappers and armed robbers.“This individual didn’t come out to criticize or condemn. Instead, he acted. That’s what we call responsible citizenship,” the Commissioner said. He emphasized that such personal contributions play a huge role in strengthening the security architecture of the nation.

The police chief also thanked residents of Abuja for their continued cooperation in sharing useful information, reporting crimes, and supporting security agencies. He added that the synergy between the police, sister agencies, local vigilantes, and members of the public is what makes it possible to achieve consistent results.“Patriotism is not about being loud or negative. It is about doing something—no matter how small—that makes your society better,” he stated.

With enhanced mobility and better station power supply, the police say they are now in a stronger position to respond swiftly to security challenges.

The Commissioner ended the briefing by calling on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the example, stressing that government alone cannot handle security without the active support of the people.
