President has nominated Mr Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr Doris Anite-Uzoka in a fresh cabinet reshuffle.
The President also redeployed Anite-Uzoka to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third ministerial portfolio under the current administration.
Tinubu conveyed Oyedele’s nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President on Tuesday. The appointment is subject to Senate approval.
If confirmed, Oyedele is expected to strengthen the administration’s fiscal reform agenda, particularly in revenue mobilisation, tax administration, and economic coordination.
Until his nomination, Oyedele served as Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led efforts to overhaul Nigeria’s tax system as part of broader reforms aimed at stabilising the economy and improving government revenue.
An indigene of Ikaram in Akoko, Ondo State, the 50-year-old economist and public policy expert has over two decades of experience across the public and private sectors.
Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy and Finance from and a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Accounting from .
He has also completed executive education programmes at the , , the , and the .
Before his nomination, Oyedele spent 22 years at , where he joined in 2001 and rose to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. In that role, he advised governments and multinational organisations on tax strategy and fiscal policy reforms.
In addition to his professional career, Oyedele is a professor at and a visiting scholar at .
The nomination comes as the Tinubu administration continues to implement wide-ranging fiscal and economic reforms aimed at boosting revenue, improving tax compliance, and strengthening macroeconomic stability.
