Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed satisfaction with the pace of work on the 12.2-kilometre Trans-Kalabari Road Project, describing it as a transformative infrastructure that will reshape the economic and social landscape of Kalabari communities.
Governor Fubara made this known on Monday, October 27, 2025, during an inspection of the project alongside the management team of Lubriks Construction Company, the firm handling the project.
Speaking at the site, the governor commended the progress achieved so far, noting that about 75 percent of the piling work on Phase One—a crucial stage of the project—has been completed.
“I personally came here to inspect this project. This is the Trans-Kalabari Road we flagged off about a year ago. I’ve been getting reports from the Ministry of Works, but I felt the need to come and see for myself what is happening here,” Fubara said.
He explained that the first phase of the project, which extends to Bakana, involves four river-crossing bridges and about five decks on piles, describing the work as technically demanding due to the challenging terrain.
“With what I’ve seen today, I can attest that about 75 percent of the piling job—which is key to completing the road—has been achieved. By the grace of God, in the next six months, I am confident that when we come for another inspection, we might be able to drive through the bridge,” he added.
Governor Fubara reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to pursuing people-oriented projects that bring development closer to communities and improve livelihoods across the state.
“As you can see, this is a key project that will immediately turn around the lives of the Kalabari people once it is completed,” the governor stated.
The Trans-Kalabari Road Project, which was flagged off in 2024, is expected to open up the riverine Kalabari axis, boost commerce, and ease transportation between communities in the area.
