The Presidential Election Petition Court has asked litigants before it to go back to work and streamline all issues for determination to enable quick dispensation of their suits.
This is as the tribunal adjourned pre-hearing of the petition by the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, to May 17, 2023
The adjournment was at the instance of the parties whose legal representatives told the court that there are a number of outstanding applications yet to be filed and that they have unanimously decided to take one week to finalize the filing and exchange the documents.
The documents include motions which they intend to tender before the court.
The court agreed with the position of the lead counsel, saying it would help fast-track the hearing of the case.
Presiding Justice Haruma Tsanani also directed that apart from filing and exchange of processes, the parties should draw up the issues for determination ahead of the next date of hearing, which is next Wednesday.
