President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the United Kingdom to accompany the remains of former President Muhammadu Buhari back to Nigeria.
This follows the official announcement of Buhari’s death in London on Sunday afternoon after a prolonged illness. The late president’s passing was confirmed in a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu has spoken directly with the widow of the former president, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, offering his heartfelt condolences and support during this difficult time.
The Vice President and the Chief of Staff are expected to oversee arrangements for the safe and dignified return of the late leader’s body.
