In a major political realignment ahead of the 2027 Nigeria’s general elections, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been officially adopted as the platform for a new opposition coalition aimed at challenging the dominance of Nigeria’s two major parties; the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
On the heel of his resignation from the PDP and defection to the opposition coalition, Former Senate President David Mark has emerged as the interim National Chairman of the coalition, while former Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola will serve as the interim National Secretary. Former Minister of Sports Bolaji Abdullahi has been appointed as the spokesperson of the new political front.
The move comes amidst the internal crisis in APC and PDP as well.
