The Imo state Governor Hope Uzodimma says despite the challenges, the state has witnessed rapid development.
Governor Uzodimma said this during the 2021 Imo thanksgiving and carol service organized by the Christian Association of Nigeria at the Ndubuisi Kanu square in Owerri, the Imo state capital.
Governor Uzodimma said his administration will always rise to the occasion and ensure the safety of lives and properties of all Imo citizens.
He assured that he remains ready to confront and combat those behind the unwarranted killings in the state.
According to him, “A reflection over the past year reveals the miraculous work of God, despite the challenges that had confronted us but then, God’s grace has remained sufficient as we emerged victorious.
“In acknowledgement of God’s abundant grace, I have come to return all glory to the most high for his love as I mark the anniversary of my birthday. I remain a tool in the hands of God, and I pray for more of his wisdom in the course of my service and beyond.
“Over the years, leaders worth their salt have, through literary discourses, contributed to the shaping of the societies they had the privilege to lead.
“For such leaders who think beyond their generation, leadership offers an opportunity to clinically appraise, first hand, the challenges of their environment.
“They are consequently motivated, thereafter, to proffer suggestions on how the immediate challenges can be surmounted.
“For Ndigbo, the challenge of our generation is to insist on our inalienable birthright as citizens of Nigeria, who must coexist with other ethnic nationalities as equal partners. This is the rationale for my book that has just been presented to you.
“It is my own modest contribution on how the Igbos can overcome the existential challenges facing them today in project Nigeria. This accounts for the sense of fulfilment and joy that I derive from the presentation of this historic book.”
