Rising tensions between the United States and Iran have taken a new turn after United States President Donald Trump claimed that Iran is now seeking a deal with Washington amid the ongoing conflict between the two nations.
Trump made the remark on Thursday during a cabinet meeting, where he addressed recent developments surrounding the standoff between both countries.
According to the US President, contrary to reports suggesting that the United States is pushing for negotiations, Iran is the party now desperate to reach an agreement.

“They are begging for a deal,” Trump said during the meeting.
His comments come shortly after reports indicated that Iran had rejected a 15-point peace proposal reportedly put forward by the Trump administration in an attempt to ease the growing tensions between the two nations.
Despite the reported rejection of the proposal, Trump insisted that Iran had suffered significant setbacks and was now looking for a way out of the crisis.
The US President further argued that Iran had been “decisively defeated,” adding that the country currently lacks the ability to effectively counter the United States.
“They can’t do anything about it. If they could, you’d be hearing about it,” Trump said.
Trump maintained that the United States remains in a strong position in the ongoing confrontation and would continue its current actions while leaving the door open for Iran to change course.
According to him, Iran now has an opportunity to take a different path by engaging constructively with the United States.
His latest comments follow an earlier statement he posted on Truth Social, where he warned Iranian leaders to act quickly if they wish to avoid harsher consequences.
In the post, Trump urged Iranian officials to get serious about negotiations, suggesting that time may be running out for diplomatic options if tensions continue to escalate.
The dispute between the United States and Iran has intensified in recent weeks, with both countries exchanging strong rhetoric and taking steps that have raised concerns about a possible wider conflict in the Middle East.
Analysts say the current situation could have significant geopolitical implications, particularly for regional stability and global energy markets.
The Middle East remains one of the world’s most sensitive geopolitical regions, and any prolonged confrontation between Washington and Tehran could affect not only neighbouring countries but also international diplomatic relations.
Iran has not officially responded to Trump’s latest claim that it is “begging for a deal.”
However, Tehran has previously maintained that it will not negotiate under pressure, a position Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasised in response to US statements and sanctions.
Observers say the situation remains fluid, with diplomatic channels still potentially open despite the sharp rhetoric from both sides.
As tensions continue to unfold, the international community is closely monitoring developments to see whether the standoff will lead to renewed negotiations or further escalation in the region.
For now, Trump has made it clear that the United States believes it holds the upper hand while waiting to see whether Iran will ultimately agree to return to the negotiating table.
