The Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has hailed police officers as the “bedrock of national stability” in a heartfelt message to mark Workers’ Day 2025.

While the day traditionally honours all workers, the IGP took a unique angle by focusing on the sacrifices of Nigeria Police Force personnel, who he said work around the clock to keep the nation safe. He praised their tireless service, calling it essential to Nigeria’s peace, unity, and growth.

In a press statement issued on May 1, Egbetokun appreciated not just the courage of officers in the line of duty but also their daily contribution to national development. “Their resolve and dedication to duty are the bedrock of our nation’s stability,” he said.

Beyond praise, the IGP assured that the Force is taking steps to improve officers’ welfare. He mentioned plans to enhance their living conditions, work environment, and opportunities for career advancement.

He also emphasized that the Nigeria Police Force is working towards a more supportive and inclusive workplace, where officers feel respected and empowered.
