Senator Adams Oshiomhole has applauded the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, for prioritizing infrastructure development in parts of Abuja that have long been overlooked.
Speaking at a recent event, Oshiomhole praised Wike’s inclusive approach, stating, “The minister is extending infrastructure to those areas,” referring to communities where the original inhabitants and low-income earners reside—areas that had suffered years of neglect.
The former APC National Chairman, said Abuja residents can now see visible action and progress under Wike’s leadership. “We all who have been living in this city for quite some time will agree—this minister is doing things differently,” he said.
He called attention to the ongoing projects across the capital city, including roads and other critical infrastructure, and urged for sustained budgetary support to maintain the momentum. “You cannot have a beautiful omelet unless you break some nice eggs,” he added, describing the tough but necessary decisions behind the transformation.
Touching on the issue of illegal settlements, Oshiomhole offered a solution-driven perspective. He shared his experience in South Africa, saying, “I used to think Soweto was a slum, but I found out that was where Mandela lived… the area is well paved, allocation of land is given.”
He suggested that Nigeria could adopt a similar model—developing well-planned, low-cost communities with essential services like water, healthcare, and education. “The poor in our country can be accommodated with correct infrastructure,” he said, expressing optimism that Wike is moving in that direction.
