The Rivers State Government has revoked the instrument of recognition of Prince Victor Woluchem as Eze Opara Rebisi.
Consequently, Barrister Uchechukwu Isaiah Elikwu is now the new Eze Epara Rebisi.
Governor Nyesom Wike disclosed this during the presentation of the certificate of recognition and staff of office to Uchechukwu Elikwu as Eze Epara Rebisi the 12th at Government House, Port Harcourt.
Governor Wike stated that the government decision was in compliance with the court directive in which the Rivers State Government was the third defendant in the matter, having waited patiently since 2013 through an understanding with the parties involved in the matter, pending the court judgement.
“So as the 9th defendant in the case, the court directed not only should we recognise the plaintiff (Uchechukwu Elikwu) as the Eze Epara Rebisi, but we should go ahead and revoke the recognition of Victor Worluchem.
“As a law-abiding government, we must obey court order. We don’t choose the one to obey and the one not to obey.
“And so, by the powers conferred on me, on the 15th of November, 2021, when the judgement came out and by the legal opinion of the Attorney General, I signed the instrument withdrawing the recognition.”
