Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state has again accused the Federal government of intimidating the judiciary.
Governor Wike said the All Progressive Congress (APC) led Nigerian government is deliberately ridiculing the country’s judicial officers, especially judges.
He said this at the opening of the 2021/2022 Legal year in Port Harcourt.
The governor accused the federal government of subjecting judges to physical and mental trauma to achieve their selfish political interest.
He said, “the recent raid on the home of Supreme Court Judge, Justice Mary Odili and the arrest as well as illegal raids and detention of judges by security agents purposely carrying out sting operations since 2016 is worrisome.
“This is a prelude to many more and even worse political manoeuvrings by the APC led government.
Wike further stressed that the increasing assault on the judiciary needs to end before it becomes a norm
