Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has praised Nigerian workers as “silent heroes” who keep the country running, even in the face of poor wages and tough living conditions.
In a heartfelt Workers’ Day message on his X, Atiku said the Nigerian workers are the “engine” driving the country toward prosperity but expressed disappointment that government policies and employers have not given workers the support they truly deserve.
“It’s painful,” Atiku said, “that those in charge have failed to match the workers’ dedication with real benefits, fair wages, and justice.” He added that many Nigerians continue to work hard despite little compensation, making huge sacrifices that often go unnoticed.
