The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has unveiled a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council to coordinate its mobilisation and campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The council comprises zonal and state coordinators, as well as directors overseeing key areas including grassroots mobilisation, women affairs, strategy, legal affairs, security, information technology and administration.
The movement’s Director-General, John Ughulu, will serve as Director-General of the campaign, while its National Secretary, Saadatu Sani, is also listed among the campaign leadership.
The structure includes representatives from the six geopolitical zones and the Federal Capital Territory, alongside coordinators for the 36 states.
Among those appointed as zonal coordinators are Suleiman Abubakar for the North-Central; Hashimu Dungurawa for the North-West; Amadu Gwambe for the North-East; Dr Adebayo Adefolaseye for the South-West; Christopher Ighodaro for the South-South; and El-Shaddai Ikeh for the South-East.
Other members include Rev. Mike Agbon, Director of Inter-Ethnic Group in Northern Nigeria; Sabo Gashua, Grassroots Mobilisation; Glory Adayi, Women Affairs; Kabir Yahaya, Contact and Engagement; Abdumumini Tijjani, Mobilisation; Yusuf Mani, Special Duties; Peace Daful, Procurement; Prof. Charles Nwekeaku, South Eastern Town Hall; and Sunmisola Adebayo, Information Technology.
Kingdom Okere was appointed Director of Legal Affairs; Abiodun Dabiri, Strategy and Planning; Richard Enemona, CSP (Rtd.), Security and Intelligence; while Aisha Abdulrahaman was named Director of Administration.
In a congratulatory message to the newly appointed members, Sani described their selection as a call to duty and urged them to take the movement’s message to communities across the country.
She said the council had been entrusted with the responsibility of taking the vision and aspirations of its principals from the cities to the grassroots, states, local governments, wards and communities.
Sani added that the movement was driven by what it described as a broader national vision of mobilising Nigerians around the possibility of a better, more prosperous, united and functional Nigeria.
She urged members of the council to demonstrate discipline, loyalty, humility, courage and commitment to the movement’s collective vision.
“Our responsibility is to ensure that the message of our principals reaches every Nigerian and that the voice of the people is heard across the length and breadth of our nation,” she said.
The unveiling comes as the movement intensifies preparations to mobilise support for the joint presidential ticket of Nigeria Democratic Congress candidate Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, ahead of the 2027 elections.
Last month, the movement reaffirmed that it would retain its independent structure rather than merge with another political organisation ahead of the elections, while backing Ughulu as its founder and Director-General.
The latest development follows the movement’s condemnation of the reported disruption of Obi’s convoy during his visit to Benue State.
The movement said its security personnel exercised restraint during the incident to prevent the situation from escalating into violence and called for an impartial investigation.
