Against expectation, the Rivers State governor, Barr. Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has approved the use of Adokiye Amiasimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt for the presidential campaign rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Wike, who also approved the rally as scheduled for February 11, allowed PDP to use the stadium free of charge.
The approval which was conveyed in a letter dated January 11 and signed by Commissioner for Sport in the state Christopher Green, followed an application for use of the facility by the PDP dated January 6 and signed by Gov Aminu Tambuwal as Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.
With the development, the PDP will now mobilize its members to storm Port Harcourt for the campaign.
PDP had been in suspense as Wike allegedly held back approval for the use of the stadium to the campaign.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the G5 governors have agreed to mend fences with the PDP leadership and fully back Atiku Abubakar at the presidential election. This followed what is seen as a very successful peace meeting between Gov. Wike and some leaders of the PDP in the South-South zone which held in Port Harcourt recently.
Part of the agreements reached at the meeting, symfoninews.com gathered, was the cessation of media war between the governors and the party.
Symfoninews also gathered that the meeting, which is expected to reconvene before the February 11 presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt, further agreed to a more united party front in the region and the need to approach the general elections as a united front.
Sources at the peace meeting indicated that the need to strengthen the PDP structure at the rural level across the region.
