Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has notified the Rivers State House of Assembly of his intention to present the 2025 Rivers State Budget on March 19, 2025, following a failed attempt on March 12.
In a letter addressed to the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, Fubara recalled that his initial attempt to present the 2025 Rivers State Budget was blocked as he and his entourage were denied entry into the Assembly complex. He noted that this happened despite delivering a soft copy of the notice and attempting to submit a hard copy through the Clerk.
The governor explained that the budget presentation was in line with both the Supreme Court’s judgment and the Assembly’s directive. He criticized the political conflicts that have delayed the process, emphasizing that the 2025 Rivers State Budget is crucial for the progress of the state and the well-being of its people.
Fubara has now proposed March 19, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., or any other convenient date within March, for the budget presentation. He urged the Assembly to prioritize the state’s development over political differences.
