“You are a hypocrite” – Reno Omokri Slams Peter Obi Over JAMB Exam Criticism

Reading Time: 2 mins read

Former presidential aide and social commentator, Activist Reno Omokri, has accused former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, of hypocrisy following Obi’s criticism of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).

Reacting to Obi’s complaint about the early scheduling of UTME exams, Omokri said on X (formerly Twitter) that Obi had no moral right to attack JAMB. He argued that the Board was forced to schedule exams as early as 6:30 AM because there are not enough examination centres to handle the over two million candidates who registered this year.

Omokri blamed the shortage of schools and centres on governors like Obi, saying it was their constitutional duty to build educational infrastructure during their time in office. He accused Obi of prioritizing personal financial interests over the development of schools, claiming the former governor deposited state funds into a bank where he had major shares instead of investing in critical projects.

JAMB

“It is the height of hypocrisy for you to attack JAMB for a problem you caused,” Omokri wrote. He further alleged that while many communities in Anambra still lack schools, Obi was busy saving government funds in his own bank, later moving the money abroad — a case exposed by the Pandora Papers investigation.

Omokri compared the situation to Indonesia, where public officials face jail time for similar actions, suggesting that Obi would have been punished if Nigeria’s system was stricter.

Meanwhile, JAMB has defended its examination schedule, explaining that the early start times are necessary to accommodate the large number of candidates within limited resources.
