The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has declared that Peter Obi’s time to lead Nigeria is over, insisting that those who failed to deliver while in power cannot come back pretending to save the country.
Wike made the fiery statement during a church event, where he openly criticized opposition figures forming political coalitions ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Some of them have been Senate President for 8 years, Minister for 8 years, Governor for 8 years. What did they do then? Now they’re shouting ‘rescue Nigeria’? From what? From themselves?”
Wike took direct aim at Peter Obi, stating that “Peter Obi can never be president again. His time has passed.”
He added that Nigerians should not be fooled by emotional speeches or constant party switching by politicians who are only desperate to return to power.
“Since 1999, you’ve jumped from one party to another. You’re not rescuing Nigeria, you’re rescuing your stomach,” he said.
The FCT Minister reminded the public that many of those now claiming to fight for the people were silent or ineffective during their time in office.
He also highlighted how the Tinubu administration has started making visible changes, especially in Abuja.
“In just three weeks, the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Conference Centre made ₦700 million, while the previous people were paying ₦50 million a year,” he said. “These are the same people telling you they want to fix Nigeria.”
Wike urged Nigerians to ask questions and not fall for propaganda ahead of 2027.
“Call your senators. Call your politicians. Ask them what they did when they had the power. Don’t be deceived again.”
