…We are the mechanics, APC is the vehicle – Yilwatda
The newly inaugurated National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Nentawa Yilwatda, has boldly declared that victory in the 2027 general elections is non-negotiable for the ruling party.
Speaking shortly after assuming office in Abuja, Yilwatda described his emergence as both a “rare privilege” and a “heavy burden,” vowing to lead the APC with integrity, unity, and focus.
“2027 is a done deal for us. We must win! This party will be the pride of the nation,” he told an enthusiastic crowd of party leaders, supporters, and journalists.

Yilwatda, who has previously served alongside many members of the National Working Committee (NWC), stressed the importance of teamwork in expanding the party’s reach. “The APC is a vehicle, and we—its leaders—are the mechanics. Together, we will fix it, drive it, and take it to our destination,” he said.

He committed to increasing party membership, promoting transparency, and enhancing the use of technology in party operations.
He also acknowledged the role of the press in shaping the image of both the party and the country, urging journalists to focus on positive reportage that inspires confidence. “When the image of Nigeria shines, we all benefit. Let us build, not destroy,” Yilwatda appealed.
During the event, he confirmed new leadership changes within the party. Prof. Karim Kai was sworn in as the new Deputy National Secretary, while the position of National Legal Adviser, zoned to the Northwest, is expected to be filled shortly.

He also praised the outgoing Deputy National Secretary, who voluntarily resigned to maintain political balance within the party’s structure. “He stepped aside without any pressure, showing true loyalty to the APC,” Yilwatda noted.
Yilwatda ended his remarks with an oath of allegiance, promising to uphold the constitution of the APC and serve Nigerians diligently. “I will not allow my personal interest to influence my duties. I will serve this party and this nation with all I have,” he vowed.
