Abuja, Nigeria – July 30, 2025 – President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service. His appointment takes effect from August 14, 2025, following the retirement of the current CG, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), Major General A.M. Jibril (retd.), on behalf of the President.
Jaji, who bows out of service on August 13, is retiring after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

According to the CDCFIB, Olumode Adeyemi brings years of rich experience to his new role. He began his career with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service, where he rose through the ranks to become Deputy Controller-General in charge of Human Resources at the Service headquarters.
“In the course of his career, the Officer has attended and passed all mandatory in-service trainings, command courses as well as other professional development courses both locally and internationally,” the statement added.
Olumode is also associated with several professional organizations. He is a member or fellow of the Association of National Accountants of Nigeria, the Institute of Corporate Administration, the Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria, and the Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria.
The Board also praised the outgoing CG, Engr. Jaji, for his “remarkable contributions” to the growth and transformation of the Federal Fire Service. It noted his “dedication and commitment,” particularly highlighting the reforms and initiatives he championed during his time in office.
