The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, CFR, has approved the appointment of members to several strategic boards and governing councils across education, health, finance, environment, and revenue sectors. The announcement, signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, names chairpersons and members for the Rivers State University Governing Council, Universal Basic Education Commission, Senior Secondary Education Board, Internal Revenue Board, Waste Management Board, Contributory Health Protection Programme, Microfinance Agency, and the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Board.
For the Rivers State University Governing Council, Okey Wali, SAN, will serve as Chairman. Members are Theophilus Owhor, Uche Messiah Olowo (mni), Soibiton Ngoji Kio Isokariari, Gogo Cookey, Sir Michael L. Vincent (KJW), Prof. Joseph Atubokiki Ajienka, Dr. Tamunoibikari G.S Epelle, Dr. Ndidi Chikanele Utchay who is the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, and Mr. Jeremiah Egwu, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Finance.
At the Rivers State Universal Basic Education Commission, Barr. Samuel Ogeh is appointed Chairman, with members Monday Ledee Yimonah, Ibiene Cotton Amachree, Margaret Ngozi Ikegwuru, Emi Clifford Ikalaso representing the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Magdalene Wilcox from the Ministry of Education, Mr. Donatus Samuel of the Nigerian Union of Teachers, Elebedim Gift from the Agency for Adult and Formal Education, Comrade Boma Watson Allison from the Parent Teachers Association, and Mr. John T. Pepple as Secretary.
The Rivers State Senior Secondary Education Board will be chaired by Mr. Tony Egwurugwu, with Dr. Austin ThankGod Jonah, Princess Clara Denirari Woke, Mr. Nwisabari Bani Samuel, Mrs. Baniba Abella Briggs Iti, Mrs. Iniseliekabo Tam-Job from Technical Education, Mrs. Alua Adiela from the Ministry of Education, Okechukwu Nwogu (FCA) representing the Ministry of Finance, Haoma Ekelechukwu-Umejuru, Charley Barinu H. Bourdilon, Allison Godswill Fubara, and Mrs. Nkayi Gift Prince as members.
For the Rivers State Internal Revenue Board, Sir Israel Egbunefu is Chairman, with members Prof. Tamunonimim Anipiworima Ngerebo, Osepiribo Ben-Willie, Mr. Okas Wike, Imaoneyani Roseline Ephraim-George from the Ministry of Budget and Planning, Henry Uzor from the Ministry of Land, Rowling Waribo from the Ministry of Transport, Pamela Ibiene Mbano from the Ministry of Justice, Mabel N. Webilor from the Ministry of Finance, and Mitchell Iyeneomie Aminigo from the Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
The Rivers State Waste Management Board will be chaired by Dr. Samuel O. Nwanosike, with Wokoma Amakiri Ibimina as Managing Director. Members include Dr. Augusta Ayotamuno, Engr. Gershon Owajikagop Ogbuluijah, Prof. Iyenemi I. Kakulu, Dr. Thankgod Bariyaa, Karebi Gorden Offe representing the Ministry of Environment, Dr. Nnamdi Micheal Ahiamadu from the Nigeria Environment Society, Dr. William Azuka Iyama from the Waste Management Association of Nigeria, Ofor Samuel Ukeame from the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria, Christopher Ettete representing ALGON, and Dr. Owene Wonodi from the Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria.

The Rivers State Contributory Health Protection Programme will be chaired by Prof. Princewill Chike, with Dr. Vetty Agala as Executive Secretary. Other members are Dr. Mangibo Daniel, Mr. Jack Tamuno Tonye, Laleobe Alemami Favour, Amb. Victor Nwikpo, Mrs. Doris Igbanibo from the Ministry of Health, Dr. Siyeofuri Dede of the RSPHCMB, Dr. Nnesochi Offor of the Nigerian Medical Association, Mr. Chris Itodo of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Chijoke Mbelu of the Health Care Providers Association of Nigeria, Mrs. Ibiye Uzoma from the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Pharm. Promise Anele of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria, Dr. Ishmael Jaja from the Hospital Management Board, Mr. Otaraku Jonathan Oye of JOHESU, and Mr. Charles Cheta representing the Local Government.

At the Rivers State Microfinance Agency, Prof. Adolphus Joseph Toby is Chairman, with Mrs. Onene Osila Obele-Oshoko as Managing Director. Other members are Prof. John Ohaka, Mr. Desire Danagogo Bob-Manuel, and Philip-Brown Tomunobere from the Ministry of Finance Incorporated.
The Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Board will be chaired by Dr. Sampson Tamunoiyoriari Parker. Members include Prof. Chizindu Akubudike Alikor, Chief Medical Director; Dr. Simon Sylvester Uriah, Deputy Chief Medical Director; Prof. Kenneth Wariso, Prof. Elizabeth Akon Awoyesuku, Mr. Gordon Tornwe (JP), Prof. Kiikpoye Aaron, Dr. Vincent Wachukwu, Director of Medical Services; Dr. Diamond Tamunokuro, NMA Chairman; and Vopnu Junias Bona of JOHESU.
According to the statement, the newly appointed board members will be sworn in by the Administrator in due course.
